Bandcamp Banner Size: Header, Background, Album Art and Merch Canva Templates

I’ve noticed people constantly posting on Reddit and Quora about the right Bandcamp banner sizes. I thought I should put them in a table, and also give you Canva templates with the right dimensions to edit to your liking. This blog explores Bandcamp banner sizes, and how you can use Bandcamp music on your Shopify store to sell more merch and superfan collections.
Bandcamp Image Sizes at a Glance
I checked Bandcamp’s current documentation and compared it with the sizes artists commonly recommend. Here are the dimensions I’d use in 2026.

Bandcamp’s current artist design guide specifically recommends 1280 × 1440 pixels for a background and requires album art to be square and at least 1400 × 1400 pixels. The same guide confirms that the custom artist header is 975 pixels wide.
For merch, Bandcamp recommends images of at least 1200 × 900 pixels, using a 4:3 layout.
One thing worth separating immediately: a Bandcamp fan-page banner is not the same thing as an artist-page header. Fan banners only need to be at least 280 pixels tall and can be any width because Bandcamp can repeat the image horizontally.
What Are the Correct Bandcamp Image Sizes?
Bandcamp Background Size
The current recommended Bandcamp background size is 1280 × 1440 pixels if you want a single, non-repeating background image. You can, however, decide if your background repeats horizontally or vertically on different device ratios. So, all ratios would work and Bandcamp can auto-crop everything, but if you want design control, 1280 × 1440 is the way to go.

Bandcamp Album Art Size
Bandcamp album artwork should be at least 1400 × 1400 pixels and it must be square. Bandcamp recommends going larger where possible, so I would normally create master artwork at 3000 × 3000 pixels.

Bandcamp Artist Header Size
Bandcamp artist header size is 975 × 180 pixels, so anything in this ratio but with more pixels is fine. Bandcamp resizes images in different screen ratios, but it will be mainly cropped to a 975 × 180 px ratio, so keep designs in that range.

Bandcamp Merch Image Size
For Bandcamp merch, use images that are at least 1200 × 900 pixels. That is a 4:3 landscape ratio. Bandcamp currently accepts JPG, PNG and GIF formats with a maximum 10MB size. The first image you upload becomes the main one.

Bandcamp Profile Image Size
For a Bandcamp fan account, at least 480 × 480 pixels is the minimum requirement. However, no specific requirement is listed for artists, but I would suggest going as large as 1000 × 1000 pixels or larger for better quality. Keep your face or artwork centred.

My rule would be to keep anything essential, particularly the artist or brand name, logo, title and faces, in the middle 80% of the banner. Due to varying screen sizes, Bandcamp might trim them. For a 975 × 180 header, I’d keep the most important content roughly within the central 780 pixels.
Can You Add Links to a Bandcamp Header?
Yes. Bandcamp supports custom header links through an HTML image map, which means parts of your banner can function as navigation links.
For example, you could build a header like ‘Music . Merch . Tour . Website’ and link each section separately.
Bonus: How to Sell Bandcamp Merch on Shopify?
Many Bandcamp artists create their own Shopify stores to sell their merch, vinyls, and other fan items. Larger businesses are not supported by Bandcamp or other smaller gifting platforms. Shopify is the end-goal for every artist to make a side income.
