Embed BeatStars on Shopify: Build a Fan Store on Shopify

Embed BeatStars on Shopify: Build a Fan Store on Shopify

BeatStars is a great platform to find buyers for your beats. Till date, BeatStars has made over 400 million USD for their producers. You create a beat, upload it, choose to license it using BeatStars’ own network of publishers and distribute it. BeatStars has slowly built a whole ecosystem around beats distribution, contact terms, and so on. What BeatStars hasn’t built is the fanbase ecosystem to sell merchandise, vinyls, DVDs, and other personalized items. In short, Beatstar artists need to build their brand on Shopify and this blog explores how to do it the right way.

Why Create a Shopify Store As a BeatStars Artist?

BeatStars takes a 12% commission on sale (either paid by the purchaser or the artist from their cut). It is fine because BeatStars brings you the audience, marketing, and the platform for distribution and is not the reason you should switch to Shopify store. BeatStars even helps with licensing, and piracy if you want to avail those additional services. However, there are some genuine use cases we’ve seen in EmbedAny.

BeatStars artists (EmbedAny customers) have started creating their Shopify stores, and selling merch, printed keychains, bracelets, posters, vinyls, DVDs, and so on. Some artists even include signed merch and personalized notes and Shopify is the best platform to do it. We’ve seen artists use EmbedAny to embed their beats on Shopify stores so the audience can get a feel of the song while they make a purchase. Each product has a beat integrated into product description or elsewhere. Artists have embedded their BeatStar artist profiles on their about us pages.

How to Embed BeatStars in Shopify

BeatStars itself describes the Blaze Player as an embeddable beat store that lets visitors listen to tracks, choose licenses, and buy directly from your website. That makes it the part I would actually embed.

There are 2 ways to embed BeatStars in Shopify. One is using blaze player (more customization) and the other one is to just copy paste the audio/profile link in Shopify using EmbedAny.

Embed BeatStars using Blaze Player

BeatStars currently provides its embed through the Blaze Player. Inside BeatStars:

  1. Open BeatStars Studio.
  2. Go to Feature —> Players.
  3. Select Create New Player.
  4. Customize the player.
  5. Add the tracks or tracklists you want displayed.
  6. Copy either the HTML5 embed code or the player’s unique URL.

BeatStars provides both options from the player settings.

Embed BeatStars Using EmbedAny

BeatStars track and artist profile links made italic in a Shopify product description

If you don’t want to deal with iframes and HTML code, simply copy the track, profile or album link, and paste it anywhere in Shopify. It could be your product description, landing page text, or blog text. Paste link, and EmbedAny automatically makes it a widget.

  1. Copy your link and go to Shopify
  2. Paste your link in product description, or within your theme’s texts
  3. Make your link italic (crtl+i)

That’s it. As soon as you make it italic, EmbedAny recognizes it and turns it into a widget. Make sure you have the EmbedAny app installed in Shopify.

BeatStars Pro: Build Your Own Website to Sell Audios

A BeatStars Pro Page is closer to a complete standalone website. BeatStars says Pro Pages can sell beats, sound kits, services, and membership, while also providing mailing-list tools, analytics and other marketing features. However, you have to buy the professional account at $19.99/mo for this.

BeatStars Pro is a clean way to manage a storefront for selling beats. I would not recommend selling beats via Shopify because BeatStars provides the rest of the protection and distribution ecosystem as well.

Conclusion

If you want to sell beats, BeatStars or another specialized platform is a much better option than Shopify if you want to get discovered more. If you want to profit from merch and other items along with your music, Shopify is the best way to do it. It has better user experience, easier checkouts, dynamic shipping options, vendors, and other controls.
